Cops and Doughnuts?

OK, so maybe this is more for our other blog The Gadfly Investigations Newspaper;  I promise we will do an article about Cops and Doughnuts with pictures in the near future on that blog.  However, I just thought that readers of this blog might also like a little preview of Cops and Doughnuts.  As I recently Tweeted "I'm more CJ than PI, but that is my background" and it is also one of my interests.
Cops and Doughnuts is located in Clare, Michigan (a beautiful part of this great state), a small town in approximately the middle of the state.  The bakery itself dates back to 1896, in 2009  the bakery was weeks away from closing its doors and like the cavalry, the Clare Police Department came to the rescue.  All 9 members of the Police Department joined together and rescued the bakery.  They gave their new business the perfect name for a police owned bakery:  Cops and Doughnuts.  It has been a big hit, and not just locally, it has drawn attention nationwide.  I have been there several times: love their baked goods, coffee, T-shirts...I even brought them my department's patch for their patch collection.  If you are in Michigan I recommend you stop by and have a cup of coffee and a doughnut.  I was looking at their Facebook page and their franks and beans look delicious.
