To Be Prepared Get Organized

The first thing you need to do in order to Be Prepared for emergencies is to get organized. You can have all the gear and emergency paraphernalia in the world, but if you can't find it when you need it then it is worthless.
One of my favorite things for stowing some of my gear is a soft sided tool bag like this one:

It is very handy for grouping certain gear that you need and is easy to grab and go.  Decide what sort of emergency stuff you want in it by deciding how you will use it and what type of emergency you will be using it for .  For instance, you may want to use it in the event you have to evacuate and then you will want a bag that contains articles like  your GPS, maps, flashlights, charging devices, medications, etc.  You may want to make this bag as an addition to a bug out bag.
A bug out bag is a bag that contains the necessities you would need to survive for 72 hours in the event you had to evacuate.  You can make your own or buy them already stocked and ready to go.  More on this in another post.
I also like to use storage bins, particularly those with latching lids.  They come in various sizes to meet your needs and are easy to store.  I like to have ones for different scenarios, such as power outage.  This bin would contain flashlights, batteries, radio, lanterns, etc.

Tomorrow more on Emergency Preparedness from Supersonic Safety Research.
